FFmpeg is a free software / open source project that produces libraries and programs for handling multimedia data. FFmpeg is widely used for media format conversions or encoding.
Building/compiling FFmpeg:
- Ubuntu 10.x or higher
- Other distros and Mac OS, FFmpeg is developed with Git. Multiple repositories from developers and groups of developers are available. More: http://ffmpeg.org/download.html
